And yet you're the one who's speculating that she drew it out, as though she could control how many times her father hit her, so, as I said...

Let's lay out an sensible arguement using what we have then:
The camera is there because she has been beaten before and knew she would eventually again, I don't think that's stepping out of a limb with that.
With the beating itself, if she was only hit a few times with a belt on the buttocks for a minute or two, most people would be ok with that, a spanking with a belt is still seen a legitimate form of punishment by alot of people.
With that, she disobeyed her father to be hit in the thighs with the belt(which for most people is the point going to far), likely knowing it would happen from previous experience, by disobeying her father she made him more angry which caused the beating to continue long then it should have making it worse.
This is the arguement I believe people who say she put "on a show" would likely concur with.
And no, this isn't what I necessarly believe because apparently, I have to put a disclaimer on everything I say now.

Those people are wrong and stupid. What you are talking about is a matter of degree, not of kind. Violence is not discipline, it is violence.

Actually, I kind of see what vee is saying. Her father was most likely this way to her in the past and by setting up the camera, she wanted to be sure to capture his actions on tape. She was genre savvy enough to set up the camera so she was also genre savvy enough to know that daddy was going to go berserk over not "bending over".
The problem is that many people who use that arguement seem to think that she deserved the treatment she got for disobedience. They fail to realize that continuing to beat someone just because they won't "bend over" is fucked up. Even if you do support corporal punishment, continuing to beat and berate someone just because they won't bend over reeks of controlling and abusive fuckwad behavior. Just because she knew her father would act that way doesn't mean he was any less of a fucking asshole.
I also hear some claiming she was faking or exaggerating her cries. At the end she gets up and looks fine is a common arguement. WRONG It's dark in the room so you can't tell, but at the very end, she still looked like she had tears in her eyes when she went up to the camera. Just because she stopped screaming in agony pretty quickly doesn't mean she was faking.

It doesn't matter if she's "manipulative" or not; her father is STILL the only person in control of his actions.

Exactly, and if he's going to whack her with a belt just for not "bending over", then he's an asshole. Had he stopped after 2 or 3 whacks, I wouldn't have thought it was that big of a deal, but he kept going and actually seemed to be deriving some sick pleasure it. What I want to ask these "corporal punishment" apologists is what does it matter if she bends over or not? The only reason I can think of is control and power.

Yeah I'm glad she exposed him too. Hopefully, this will encourage other abused children to expose their parents.
