On the bright side, it's another nail in coffin of the Republican's Public Image (liked they needed another one).

How cute, using peoples lives as political leverage.
.....and people who have lost everything to boot!

Why can't we be more like Japan and help our fellow citizens in times of crisis?

Why can't we be more like Japan and help our fellow citizens in times of crisis? *cue stunned silence, then:* How DARE you suggest we become more like those socialist commie Nazi-lovers?! I don't watch the news, so the first I heard of this was in my Operating Systems class (the professor used to be a storm chaser and is still a meteorology geek) and just hearing about what happened made me sick...fuck you, Cantor, you heartless cur.

Oh how cute. A member of the GOP thinking this is an appropriate place for a political stunt.
Ironbite-and the Dems are the ones with the crazy ones right?

At the risk I start sounding like a broken record:
GOP once again proves where their priorities lie.
Why do people vote for those sociopaths?

Meh. It's a douche move of the highest caliber, no doubt. But I don't see this as having any teeth. The rest of the GOP leadership will at some point in the near future pull Cantor aside and explain to him how this will not happen. And I (choose to) believe that there are enough sane members of Congress, in both parties, that even if Mr. Cantor tries it, it will be shot down like a big fat low flying duck on opening day of duck season flying over Ted Nugent's ranch as he hosts a hunt for the NRA's Give Guns to Mentally Unbalanced Overly Violent Sharpshooters Day.

At the risk I start sounding like a broken record: GOP once again proves where their priorities lie. Why do people vote for those sociopaths? Because they have a weirdness filter that targets everything evil their Republican leaders are doing and everything good their Democratic opponents are doing.

Why can't we be more like Japan and help our fellow citizens in times of crisis? Because the US had the Red Scare followed by Ayn Rand becoming very popular among douchebags (primarily the young ones) that fancied themselves to be brilliant philosophers.
