That's David Silverman, president of American Atheists, and that image has become an internet meme. Last winter he was on Bill O'Reilly's show and O'Reilly suggested that religion is true, and used the tides as an example of god's power. Silverman reacted with that look above. First of all brendanrizzo, I am from the US, not Europe, I was born and raised here. Simsim do you have a link to Youtube of that interview, I am now curious.

Call me silly, but after four decades I think it's pretty reasonable to tell the U.S. and Israel to go fuck their hats when they suggest that you try it their way just one more time.

Ummm. Good point. How about we tell the Palestinians we'll support their application if in return they tell the US to fuck themselves rather than us.

The West now, after World War II, has learned not to have violent ethnic strife, but the rest of the world is still caught up in that barbaric and pre-modern view that anyone who is not themselves is TEH ENEMY and they are so racist that they insist on having a country all to themselves. This conflict has been going on for decades. A couple of names to run past you, son. UVF and PIRA. Ever heard of them? How about Serbia or Croatia? Last time I checked the atlas, they were in the West. I'd put this down to the majority populace in Palestine are, ermmm, Muslims. And as such, are somewhat oppressed by the Israeli state. Oh and you might want to consider that the governing body in Palestine was democratically elected.

I don't believe in the idea of separate countries, so yeah, I think that any war over statehood is petty by default. I should also add that there's nothing petty about wishing to live your life without fear that you and your children will be shot, or lose your home, or be "relocated" to an even shittier region. Nationalism may be petty, but longing for freedom certainly isn't/.

I honestly cannot see why Palestine does not deserve to be recognized internationally as a state. I support their bid for UN membership. After all, if Israel can be a UN member when it has just as much blood on their hands I don't see why Palestine cannot.

It's only a democracy if they shoot brown people. Exactly. Democracy is essentialy a white man with a gun. More specificaly it is a white man with a gun in one hand, a bible in the other, a sense of entitlement, and a spurious claim to a brown man's land. (said claim is usualy based on said bible)

Good. Now he can get points from people who never had any intention of ever voting for him and will always oppose anything he does. Oh and he destroys even the pretense that that the US is an honest broker in any peace deal between palestine and Israel. Double WIN! Do I really need a sarcasm thingy here?

With any luck, this will get some Republicans to support it.

Good. Now he can get points from people who never had any intention of ever voting for him and will always oppose anything he does. The Likud Lobby is so scary precicely because it isn't a group of voters. It's scary because it has so much cash (even though very few American Jews listen to them). That cash can swing voters that might vote for Obama.
