I don't think the SA / Aussie accents sound similar AT ALL. And I'm South African, so I know.

(but are really not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things)
So are there certain things that people do that annoy the crap out of you, and cause you to see red, but when you think about it are not really that big a deal?
My list would be only two things : 1. Not resetting the time on the microwave to default when you have removed your food/drink after only 1m29secs, but set the timer for 2m. Why people, it's the push of one button!
2. Not replacing the toilet paper onto the holder in the office facilities. Not only this, but reaching back behind the toilet, using the roll and then putting it back on the back of the loo. Why?? Why, why, why? Why can you not just put it on the holder?
So what little things annoy you?

Yeah, sorry guys. I'm already compiling the results. Don't mean to be a bother, but have you posted the results for this anywhere? I did try a search but couldn't find anything. No pressure - just wondered if you had the results in yet :-)

I will give you my personal experience, cos that's all I have!
I lost my brother to a fatal motor bike accident almost 9 years ago, and I still grieve over it.
The honest answer is that you never "get over" it. The pain will always be with you. Allow yourself to feel it when it comes and cry. I cry still - not as often any more, but it still comes.
As for the second guessing over what more you could have done, this simple answer is that you just have to stop it. Whenever those thoughts enter your mind, change your mind subject - think about your dream holiday or winning the lottery or whatever, as long as it is something else.
I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. Losing someone when their 'time' shouldn't be up is very difficult. My heart truly goes out to you.

"Everyday he is President, Obama brings this nation one step closer to judgment. I really fear for our Presidents soul. How many times does he think he can openly mocked and scorn the Lord before he is humbled?"
Thats just bloody fantastic, just because your (America's) president is the antichrist, now we all have to suffer judgment. Crikey, I know Africa is already doomed (I can't really remember why, but I think it has something to do with God not caring about the poor and hungry), but ffs, do you Americans always have to doom (or save) the rest of the world?
Or does the rapture occur at different times, on different continents? Not really sure how the whole thing is supposed to go down. If anything happens here (because we have already legalised gay marriage, so it's imminent) I'll give you all a heads up . . . . .

It never fails to amaze me that these type of Christians are without any faith in their OWN religion. I am a believer, but no amount of exposure to atheists, Muslims, Jews, wiccans, public school systems or education will ever make my belief in God waver. I accept every point of view as equally entitled.
Surely it is the ultimate test to put your child in a public school, and if they still come out with faith in God, then you know it is real and true?
Being secluded from the reality of the real world makes it easy to believe. Having your faith tested, and still coming out the other side with a belief in God is much harder.
Although I suppose, having a bit of reality might mean that these children turn out tolerant, and moral and fair. And then who would keep the torches of hatred and intolerance alive?
I feel so sorry for any children whose parents have taken heed of this drivel. It must be SO difficult to come out of a situation like that without being at least a little screwed up!

I'd like to know how that logo represented evolution, and how it was offensive to Christians? Isn't it just a fossilised 'something' - looks like a reptile of some sort? Another case of fundie Christians finding offense in things not meant to be offensive, so that they can stick to the persecution agenda.

I've never thought Damien was a wierd name. Some common names here : Pretty Precious Doctor Lovejoy Lovemore Vitesh Prakash
I also know a guy named Beowulf - I think thats pretty cool.
My name is Kerryn, which is pretty unusual here, and my daughters name is Ciara (pronounced Keira - She was born before Keira Knightly was famous.) I think they are both cool names, and suitably original. My four brothers all have VERY common (nice, but common) names.

Why is it that the fundies always relate morals, values and responsibility to Christianity?
It really just so pisses me off. It takes away all personal responsibility. So they can use the excuse "I stopped listening to God, and sinned by stealing all that money from the poor people with my fraudulent scam." So that they can be forgiven, and given an out.
At least an atheist says "Geez, I fucked up - who can I blame? Only me."
We lived in a poor neighbourhood when I was growing up. My mom was a single parent of 5 kids between 4 and 14 - and she went to work every day to a crappy job, with crappy pay, so that we could have decent lives.
About 90% of the people who lived in that neighbourhood didn't work at all, and one particular family comes to mind. Neither of the parents worked, for no other reason that pure laziness. They were totally fundie, and survived all those years by the kindness of strangers, charity and sheer blind luck.
There was a grocer who (out of the kindness of his heart) used to give them a HUGE back of veggies. Every time he dropped off the veggies, the mother would say "Thank You Lord, we knew you would provide".
Eventually Mr. Grocer must have gotten really sick of it (as would I), and said "No, the Lord didn't provide - I did."
And that was the last we ever saw of him delivering free groceries to this particular family!
I know I went off point there a bit, but it all really relates to the same thing really.
