Further proof that the "pro-life" movement REALLY means "SAVE TEH FETUSES!!" >.<
*Angels and Demons SPOILER* Goddammit, the more I hear about shit like this the more I wish they would've succeeded in destroying the Vatican in that story.....

This reminds me of the girl who had Celiac disease (an allergy to gluten) and consequently couldn't receive Communion because the wafers were made from wheat. The church refused on doctrinal grounds to substitute rice wafers, which seems awfully harsh because the Celiac disease would be god's doing anyway. I'm not sure why it would matter. Don't they believe that it becomes Jesus anyway? Does the infinite power of God not extend to rice-based food products? Nope. That's why East Asians are such heathens. Logic!

Wasn't she going to have an abortion much earlier, but the church stopped her?
So if the fetuses felt pain during it, the church is totally to blame. Way to go, making her wait.

And I see the fetus-fetishists have struck again. You can bet they wouldn't give a flying fuck about what happened to the kids after they were born anyway.

Prayer does not magically widen vaginas. Those kids where DOOMED wether they waited 9 months or not.

Thinking morbidly ahead, I suppose if the girl DID, for whatever reason, end up carrying the twins to term, they'd've been delivered via c-section rather than a vaginal birth. She simply wouldn't have had the development required to give birth that way. Though she wouldn't have had the development required to CARRY those babies to term anyway and would have suffered serious problems all throughout the pregnancy, hence WHY it was necessary to end the pregnancy to begin with.

Yeah basically. They don't understand the medical reasoning behind this decision because all they see is abortion. That's it.
Ironbite-really really really fucking pisses me off.

It is sad but true. They don't bother considering the medical science behind the decision, or, for that matter, the simple fact that not doing so would have killed the girl, and neither baby would have made it alive. Even if they did, I shudder to think about the health problems those kids would have had. I think we're seeing more of that Dark Age "Pregnancy = Punishment" crap.

Exactly. People just don't realize that the girl was simply not physically capable of bearing and birthing even ONE baby, let alone the fact that she would have had TWINS. They would have killed her, pure and simple. Then she would have undergone not only the torture of being raped and abused by her stepfather, but also of the last year of her life being painful and miserable and slowly killing her. Punished for someone else's crime--and that isn't right. More and more, I'm convinced that the Catholic church and the anti-choicers must have a serious sick FETISH for watching women and girls suffer. There can't be any other explanation--that's how they get off. (Except for the priests who fancy altar boys.)

It is not so much a sick fetish for having women suffer, it's a power thing. They want to hold all women's lives in the "traditional" role of barefoot and pregnent in the kitchen. That's where the Vatican wants you ladies. Which to me is stupid and sick. Also dangerous.
What they're really doing is applying a 2000 year old policy designed to shore up the amount of worshippers you had in the pews, and therefore more money in the collection plate, to the modern world. It simply doesn't work that way anymore. The fact that they compleatly disregard the fact that carrying these kids to term would've endangered three lives doesn't even begin to get me angry. Its the fact that in their minds, if God didn't want her to have these babies to begin with, he wouldn't have made her dress so provocativly to entice her step-father into unwanton lust. Lust, btw, IS A SIN!
Ironbite-I say let 'em excommunicate the doctors, join another church if you need Jesus so badly.

Hey I've seen fundies freak because a miscarriage is listed on their medical reports as a spontaneous abortion. That just puts them into tears.

Except for the priests who fancy altar boys. No, they just view you women as so repugnant and evil that they rather be gay then have lustful thoughts about you. Yeah, I kinda threw up in my mouth a little after typing that.

It seems to me they should regard it as a badge of honor. Any organization that would kick members out for saving a girl's life is an organization one can be proud to get kicked out of. Maybe if they're really lucky they'll get the full bell, book and candle routine. That would be so cool.
