Sarcasm aside... there is not a prisoner with a big, barbed, acid-laced enough dick to make this guy pay enough. I won't be satisfied until he suffers worse than Promethius.

He said, "Temporary insanity", though, which is when unusual circumstances lead to, as the name says, temporary insanity. Bit different than a regular old insanity defence, and a shit-ton harder to prove (which says something, being that insanity defences are a huge gamble as it is).
eta: I could see a regular insanity defence working in this case, but not temporary insanity. Coming across gay people or kids doing "gay" things (slapping butts, et al.) isn't exactly an unusual circumstance unlikely to repeat itself. Even the majority of religious homophobes aren't going to buy the religion excuse here.

I've got someone on another site talking about his little nephew who he is afraid of being gay and has no idea what he'll do if he is. The kid is... well... *bites lip* actually as old as this little kid was. It disturbs and scares me.

Remember kids, that boy could've become one of them "homosexers". As a Good Christian™, the man saw that he was doing the good Lord's work by ridding this world of another Sodomite. True, for all intent and purposes, the boy could've ended up as being straight, but why take the chance?
Seriously though, it's getting to the point where homophobia is doing more harm then homosexuality. Not that homosexuality was harmful to begin with, which makes this tragedy even more BS.

Precisely. Homophobes don't get that it's their bloody TV commercials, angry rants on the internet, misspelled protest signs and bullshit rhetoric that fosters an atmosphere where this kind of thing is bound to happen. It may not be that the majority of people are shooting 4-year-olds in the fucking head, or beating the shit out of gays, or setting gay bars on fire, but the fact that it happens at all is horrific, and it would happen a lot less if the people who are actually inclined to do these things weren't having their twisted view of LGBTs supported by a sizable chunk of society.
